How I jumped into NFT full time

Who knew that developing cute derpy unicorns will develop into a multi-million dollar brand.

Meet Chubbicorns and the Chubbiverse, they are an Non-Fungible Token (NFT) and they live on the blockchain.

Below are my unedited thoughts on what I’ve been up to for the last 8 months.

Seizing the opportunity

Part of my strength is following my curiosity and leveraging opportunities. I’ve been part of many waves of creators who jumped onto Meerkat, Snapchat, and LinkedIn.

  • It’s how I grew a global network, traveling extensively worldwide.
  • It’s why I grew my personal brand, so I can seize opportunities.

While I’m grateful for the growth. I’ve struggled to monetize my influence. That has all changed. I’ve recognised my gap in skills and focused on developing my product and learning business fundamentals.

A few years ago, I gained funding for my first startup, The Trusted Voice.

As a startup, the golden grail is the product-market fit. It describes a product that satisfies a strong market demand. I gained good traction. TTV has helped 100s of professionals and business leaders market themselves better on LinkedIn and be the trusted authority.

Did I mention that I brought back my equity for The Trusted Voice for a dollar?

Still, that all changes when I dabble into the NFT space. I went down a rabbit hole.

My first NFT experiment blew up into a multi-million dollar brand.

Uploading 250 Chubbicorns on Opensea, an NFT marketplace, allowed me to understand what product-market fit feels like. It’s like a tsunami hitting the wave of demand.

Within moments, it grabbed the attention of influencers, and at one point, a Chubbicorn had a market value of 18.5ETH (at that time, it was about $60,000). Pretty crazy, right?

Steve Aoki and Pplpleasr are some of our famous holders.

This allowed us to generate a second collection of 8888 Chubbiverse Frens. We sold out within 4.5hours and raised over 700ETH (about 3.3M USD).

Instantly, I switched gears and put all my attention on Chubbiverse. I became a CEO of a multi-million brand.

Chubbiverse is best described as Hello Kitty meets crypto. But our magic isn’t that we talk about technology. No, far from it. We use the jpegs to build the sentimental value of what we represent. Our mission is to spread giggles and good vibes.

We know we have strong intellectual property as we’ve gone viral on numerous channels. With our stickers, we generated 50 million Giphy views.

What about The Trusted Voice?

I learned so much at The Trusted Voice. It taught me:

  • Product development
  • Running finances
  • How to run a team
  • Delegate, and stop being a solopreneur
  • Understanding what is a value proposition
  • To focus

But it’s time to wrap it up. I pinged my TTV community and let them know in March this year. Many of them still message and ask me questions, I’m still okay with that as I want to see them succeed. Many have become confident creators, and I’ve seen others develop LinkedIn into a marketing funnel to generate leads.

I will treat a lot of my existing products and put them up as digital products.

My YouTube videos, and LinkedIn presence, still bring me leads and sales, which indicates there’s still demand for simplier ways for busy folks to execute.

Speaking of which, FOCUS

A common trend that I see with solopreneurs and many who are starting out are that we muti-task. I’ve done that. It’s okay to multi-task. But what if, we know how to priorities more effectively? We focus better when we understand opportunity cost.

I’m going to talk about it more another time in my stringstory.co blog. My head is full of ideas. So, writing and creating content helps me empty my head and focus.

What next?

I know where my next focus will be, and that’s in Web3.

You can continue to follow my journey, I’m going to keep moving forward in a String Speed way.

  • I’m mostly on Twitter now, that’s where the exciting conversation about web3 is.
  • I’m excited to get back on to video, and talk about WEB3, NFT, community and ofc, marketing.
  • You can find me on StringStory.

And I’m going to keep using LinkedIn, a lot of folks are curious about Web3 and I like to lead the way.
